Before adding a server and activating the Backup Ninja agent, ensure the following requirements are met.
Supported operating systems
At the moment, only Linux-based operating systems are supported. The following operating systems are known to be supported:
- CentOS 6/7
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6/7
- Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and later
- Debian 8 and later

Supported database servers
Backup Ninja supports taking backups for the following database servers:
- MySQL (version 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8.0)
- Percona Server for MySQL (version 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8.0)
- MariaDB Server (version 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3)
- PostgreSQL (version 9.6 and later)
- TimescaleDB (version 9.6 and later)
- MongoDB (version 4.x and later)
